Odisha, Jul 23: In a remarkable feat of perseverance and self-belief, Animesh Pradhan from Talcher, Odisha, secured All India Rank 2 in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2023 – and that too in his very first attempt, without any formal coaching.

A computer science graduate from NIT Rourkela, Animesh’s journey was marked by immense personal loss. He lost his father in 2015 while in Class 11, and just a month before his UPSC interview, he lost his mother to cancer. Despite the emotional turmoil, Animesh continued his preparation with quiet determination.

Beginning his UPSC journey in 2022, Animesh followed a disciplined study schedule, dedicating six to seven hours daily. He credits his late parents’ encouragement as the foundation of his success. Educated at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Talcher, he always aspired to serve the grassroots and improve access to healthcare and education for marginalised communities.

Now allotted the Odisha cadre, Animesh Pradhan’s story is an inspiring testament to resilience, dedication, and the power of self-study.
