Mangaluru: Absconding accused involved in 24 cases arrested by CCB

Mangaluru, Jul 22: In a major operation, the Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested a notorious accused who was absconding after being released on bail in connection with as many as 24 criminal cases registered across Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada district.

The arrested has been identified as *Mohammad Abdul Fayaan (27),* son of K M Abbas, a resident of Batayadka House, Badriya Nagar, Kalkatta, Manjanady, Mangaluru.

Fayaan had failed to appear before court during trial after being released on bail in multiple cases, including thefts in government offices, schools, and shops, attempts to murder, and assault on fellow inmates and prison staff during judicial custody. Following his arrest on July 22, the CCB handed him over to the jurisdictional Barke police station for further legal proceedings.

The accused has been involved in criminal cases under the jurisdiction of Konaje and Ullal police stations in Mangaluru city, as well as Bantwal Town, Bantwal Rural, Uppinangady, Kadaba, and Puttur Town police stations in Dakshina Kannada. Apart from the 24 cases in Karnataka, he is also reportedly involved in several cases registered in various police stations across Kerala.

The arrest was made by officers and personnel of the Mangaluru CCB team who were actively tracking the accused’s whereabouts. A total of 24 non-bailable warrants had been issued against him by different courts.
