Mangaluru: Hotel owner ends life due to financial distress

Mangaluru, Jul 22: Nithin Poojary (41), the owner of a hotel named Kodakkene near Kadri-Kambla in the city, died by suicide after reportedly consuming poison, allegedly due to financial difficulties.

Nithin, had opened the Kodakkene hotel in Kadri eight months ago with the intention of running his own business. Prior to this, he was a partner in a hotel at Moodbidri. His new hotel at Kadri had quickly earned a reputation for its non-vegetarian food.

According to close associates, Nithin had been facing financial challenges recently due to the hotel business and a high-end lifestyle. On Sunday night, he consumed poison at his flat in Gundurao Lane, Mannagudda. He was rushed to the hospital late at night, but succumbed during the early hours despite treatment.

Friends expressed their grief by posting Nithin’s photograph as their status and mourning his demise. Nithin was unmarried and known for his wide circle of friends. A native of Maroli, he had recently purchased a flat in Mannagudda and was living there with his mother.

    RIP!! Many eateries, which are running businesses by paying very high lease rentals are not sustainable, in the long run, due to the extra pressure of sky high inflation, labour problems, reduced footfalls, high taxes,and cut throat competition!!
