Attempt to murder accused arrested by Padubidri police in Tamil Nadu

Udupi, Jul 21: Padubidri police arrested Alagesh, a native of Tamil Nadu, for attempting to murder a man during a drunken brawl at Gloria Bar in Kanjarkatte, within the Padubidri police station limits. The arrest was made in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.

On July 15, Satish Acharya from Santoor was consuming alcohol at Gloria Bar along with his friends Narasimha and Karthik. During this time, Alagesh entered the bar and verbally abused Narasimha using vulgar language. When Satish questioned his behaviour and pushed him out of the bar cabin, Alagesh, enraged, accused Satish of siding with Narasimha and threatened to kill him. He then attacked Satish with a knife, stabbing him in the head and abdomen in an attempt to murder him.

After committing the crime, Alagesh fled to his hometown in Tamil Nadu. Based on a complaint filed by the severely injured Satish Acharya, a case was registered at Padubidri police station.

As per the directions of Udupi district superintendent of police Hariram Shankar, and under the guidance of additional superintendent of police Sadananda S Naik and Parameshwar Hegde, a special team was formed. The team, led by Dr Harsha Priyamvada, assistant superintendent of police, Karkala sub-division, and Kapu circle inspector Jayashree Mane, included Padubidri PSI Saktivelu (KAS), ASI Rajesh P, and constables Sandesh Kumar and Sharan Putran.

The police team travelled across Erode, Salem, and Krishnagiri districts in Tamil Nadu, gathering information before successfully apprehending Alagesh. He was then produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
