Bantwal: Hindu Republic TV booked for spreading fake news on police case in Vittal

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal

Bantwal, July 12: The Vittal police have registered a case against the digital news platform Hindu Republic TV for allegedly publishing false and misleading information in connection with an ongoing police investigation, thereby misguiding the public.

The development comes in the wake of a case (Crime No. 83/2025) that had earlier been filed on July 8, at Vittal police station. According to officials, the news portal published content on the incident in a factually distorted manner, allegedly concealing the true nature of the case and spreading misinformation under the guise of news.

Taking serious note of the matter, the police have now filed a fresh complaint — Crime No. 84/2025, dated July 10, — under Section 240 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, against the owner and partners of Hindu Republic TV.

The report, which allegedly circulated fabricated claims, is said to have caused confusion and misled the public, prompting legal action.

Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway, and further legal proceedings will be initiated based on the outcome of the probe.
