Bengaluru's Namma Metro tickets now available on 9 popular apps via ONDC for seamless travel

Bengaluru, Jul 9: In a significant leap towards digital mobility and commuter convenience, Bengaluru’s Namma Metro has now enabled QR-code-based ticket booking through nine popular travel apps, thanks to its integration with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

Until recently, metro commuters had limited options like the official Namma Metro app, Paytm, or BMRCL’s WhatsApp chatbot for booking tickets. But starting this month, passengers can now plan and book their entire journey — including autos, cabs, and metro rides — from a single app, eliminating the need for multiple platforms or standing in long queues.

Apps now supporting Namma Metro ticket booking:

• Namma Yatri

• Rapido

• Redbus

• EaseMyTrip

• Tummoc

• OneTicket

• Highway Delite

• Yatri – City Travel Guide

• Miles & Kilometres (Telegram-based)

This integration allows commuters to book a complete door-to-door journey, combining different modes of transport — all through one interface.

How the QR ticketing works:

Once a commuter books a metro ride via any of the supported apps, a digital QR code is generated instantly. At the station gate, scanning the code grants entry — doing away with paper tickets and tokens. This system reduces wait times, supports contactless travel, and promotes an eco-friendly commute.

“Smart, seamless, sustainable travel” – BMRCL

Maheshwar Rao, managing director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL), hailed the move as a step forward in creating interconnected urban transport.

“This expansion supports our goal of providing seamless first-, middle-, and last-mile connectivity. Commuters can now plan their entire journey in one go, making public transport more user-friendly,” he said.

Paving the way for smarter commuting

As Bengaluru continues to battle increasing traffic congestion, this digital ticketing expansion via ONDC is expected to boost metro usage by enhancing convenience and flexibility. For tech-savvy commuters who already rely on apps like Rapido and Redbus, the ability to add a metro ticket to the itinerary adds immense value.

With Namma Metro stepping into a new digital era, Bengaluru takes another step closer to its smart city vision, where mobility meets technology for the benefit of all.
