Udupi, July 6: In a significant preventive move to safeguard law and order, the Udupi district police have issued an externment order against Satish Poojary, a rowdy-sheeter from Davanagere, effectively barring him from entering Udupi district for a period of two months, from July 7 to September 7.
According to sources, a large-scale protest has been organised by Rajesh Uchila, district convener of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike, to oppose the Karnataka state government’s alleged “anti-Hindu policies.”
The protest is set to take place on July 7 at 4 pm near the deputy commissioner's office in Manipal, with similar demonstrations planned across Karkala, Kundapura, and Udupi taluks.

Intelligence reports have revealed that Satish Poojary had been secretly invited to participate as a key speaker at the protest. Authorities expressed concern that his involvement—given his rowdy-sheeter background and history of delivering provocative speeches—could disturb communal harmony and incite unrest.
“There is credible input indicating that his presence at the event may lead to serious law and order issues,” a senior police official said.
Further reports suggest that Hindu Jagarana Vedike plans to hold additional protests in Karkala and Kundapura in the coming days and may again seek to involve Poojary as a speaker. His past record and inflammatory rhetoric have prompted fears that his presence could trigger communal tension.
The district administration has also taken into account the approaching major festivals— Vinayaka Chaturthi and Krishna Janmashtami — during which large public gatherings are expected. Officials believe that allowing such a controversial figure into the district during this sensitive period could escalate tensions further.
“In the interest of maintaining public peace and communal harmony, an externment order has been issued preventing Satish Poojary from entering Udupi district for two months,” stated the report submitted by the Superintendent of Police.
