Mangaluru, July 6: Daijiworld Media Ltd marked the beginning of its silver jubilee celebrations with a grand cultural extravaganza, Konkani Porab, held at the St Agnes Centenary Auditorium here.
The event was graced by philanthropist and NRI businessman Michael D’Souza, VK Furniture and Electronics managing director Vittal Kulal, and Vajra Realties managing partners Rambo D’Souza and Kishore Poojary.






























Addressing the gathering, Michael D’Souza said, “Daijiworld is known for its authenticity in news publishing and its deep social concern. It has acted as a bridge between the native and the global community. I am delighted to be part of the inaugural event of its silver jubilee celebrations.”
Melwyn Rodrigues, director of Daijiworld Media Ltd, welcomed the dignitaries, while founder Walter Nandalike shared humorous anecdotes and expressed satisfaction over the portal’s charitable initiatives, which have crossed Rs 31 crore.
The highlight of the event was a musical concert conceptualised by Sanjay Rodrigues, which earned a standing ovation for its fresh and creative approach. The show featured acclaimed music directors Roshan Crasta Bela and Melwyn Leema, supported by renowned instrumentalists Veekshith Udupi, Prajwal Fronteiro, Stalin D’Souza, and Sanjeeth Rodrigues.
Some of the most prominent voices in Konkani music, including Zeena Pereira, Shilpa Cutinha, Joshal D’Souza, Loy Valentine, Paloma Rodrigues, and others, enthralled the audience with a mix of soulful and energetic performances.
The dance troupe Urban Groove wowed the crowd with their electrifying performance. A unique element of the event was a jugalbandi of Konkani songs performed by 75 children and 35 elders, curated by Joshal D’Souza.
Komal Jenifer D’Souza anchored the programme with elegance, while the show was designed by well-known writer and director Stany Bela. Sponsors were felicitated by Daijiworld director Alexis Castelino, along with Praveen Tauro, Lawrence D’Souza, Kishore Gonsalves, and Ronald Nazreth, family members of Daijiworld.
The event was a resounding success and set a high note for the silver jubilee celebrations, which promise many more memorable moments ahead.
