Udupi, Jul 4: A suo moto case has been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station against Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sharan Pumpwell for allegedly making provocative statements aimed at inciting communal hatred in connection with the recent cow slaughter incident reported from Kunjalu.
According to the complaint, the accused, Sharan Pumpwell, addressed a press conference and made inflammatory remarks before the investigation into the case was completed. It is alleged that he disseminated false information, which could disturb public peace and create unrest. His statements were reportedly intended to provoke disharmony between religious communities.

Authorities stated that such comments, made against the sensitive backdrop of an ongoing investigation, are not only irresponsible but also dangerous, as they have the potential to spark tensions among different communities. Police are currently investigating the matter further.
Based on these allegations, Udupi Town Police have registered a case under Section 353(2) of the BNS.
