Mumbai, Jul 2: In a tragic incident, a 44-year-old food delivery agent died after accidentally falling into a swimming pool located on the 22nd floor of a luxury residential tower near Grant Road railway station in South Mumbai late Tuesday night.

The deceased, identified as Imran Akbar Khojada, had gone to the high-rise to deliver food when the mishap occurred around 11:50 pm. According to police, Khojada was walking near the pool’s edge while speaking on the phone when he lost his balance and slipped into the water.

As no one was present to assist him, he drowned, officials from the Gamdevi police station confirmed.

An accidental death report has been registered, and preliminary investigation suggests no foul play. Khojada’s brother informed the police that he has no complaints against anyone, though the probe into the incident is still underway.

The unfortunate incident has raised concerns over safety measures in high-rise residential buildings, particularly around unsupervised amenities like elevated swimming pools.
