Mumbai, Jul 1: Days after the sudden demise of actor-model Shefali Jariwala, Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam has assured that authorities will investigate if anything suspicious is found in her autopsy report.

"I had stated on the first day that if there's any foul play or complaint, we would investigate accordingly. Let's wait for the post-mortem report, which will clarify the situation. If the report reveals anything suspicious, we will conduct an investigation and take appropriate action," Kadam said.

The 42-year-old ‘Kaanta Laga’ fame actor passed away last week. Though the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed, officials suspect cardiac arrest as a likely reason. There are also reports suggesting possible food poisoning.

Mumbai police sources revealed that Jariwala had stocked two boxes of medicines in her house, indicating possible self-medication. Among the items found were glutathione (commonly used for skin lightening), Vitamin C injections, and acidity pills—raising concerns over unsupervised anti-ageing treatments.

Sources further disclosed that Jariwala had been consuming these medicines for nearly seven to eight years, following an old doctor’s recommendation. On the day of her death, June 27, she was reportedly fasting for a religious puja and is believed to have taken an injection of the anti-ageing medicine on an empty stomach—possibly triggering cardiac arrest.

“There was a puja at home, and she was fasting. Despite that, she took the injection, which could have led to the cardiac episode,” a source said.

However, doctors maintain that anti-ageing medication alone is unlikely to induce such cardiovascular stress without other underlying conditions.

The autopsy was conducted at Cooper Hospital, but the final opinion has been reserved pending further forensic analysis.

Shefali Jariwala rose to fame in 2002 with the hit remix video Kaanta Laga. She also acted in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and appeared in popular TV reality shows like Nach Baliye 5, Nach Baliye 7, and Bigg Boss 13 alongside her husband Parag Tyagi.
