Mangaluru, Jun 26: In a tragic incident, a retired bank employee died by suicide at the very bank where he had served for four decades. The incident took place in the store room of the Canara Bank branch located on the ground floor of Ram Bhavan Complex in Mangaluru.

The deceased has been identified as Giridhar Yadav (61), a resident of Alake. He had worked as an attender at the Canara Bank branch in Kodialbail for nearly 40 years and had recently retired. It is reported that out of his deep affection for the bank, he continued to visit the premises regularly even after retirement.

On Tuesday, he visited the bank as usual but did not return home. Concerned about his whereabouts, his wife filed a missing person complaint at Bunder police station.

On Wednesday morning, when the bank was opened, Giridhar was found dead in the store room, having died by hanging. The motive behind the suicide remains unknown. Police have visited the scene and launched an investigation.

Giridhar Yadav was also known as a state-level powerlifter and had won several medals during his athletic career. It is said that he had been dealing with health issues in recent times.

If retired, why the bank security was allowing him to enter the banks store room. ? That means there was laxity in security arrangements and such negligence migh lead to major losses of documents or fire hazards.
