New rule in Abu Dhabi: Valet parking services now require official ITC licence

Abu Dhabi, Jun 25: In a bid to regulate valet parking operations and enhance public safety, Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), operating under the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has made it mandatory for all valet parking service providers in the emirate to obtain an official licence before commencing any operations.

Issuing a formal notice this week, the ITC stated that providing valet services without a valid licence — or misusing an existing one — will now be treated as a legal violation. Offenders will be held accountable under local laws and transport regulations.

“All entities offering valet parking services must obtain official licences from the ITC before commencing any activity in Abu Dhabi,” the authority said in its public statement.

The newly introduced directive aims to bring all valet operations across hotels, shopping malls, and commercial establishments under official oversight. Officials said the move is designed to ensure safe, organised urban mobility and safeguard public interest.

To ensure adherence to the rule, ITC field inspection teams have already begun conducting on-ground checks at various valet service points in the capital. These monitoring drives are focusing on:

• Spotting unlicensed operators

• Verifying the validity of existing licences

• Ensuring compliance with the emirate’s parking safety standards

The ITC has issued a clear appeal to hotels, commercial complexes, and other service providers to verify their legal status and update their permits in line with the new policy.

Simultaneously, the authority is urging the general public to exercise caution when using valet parking services. Residents and visitors are advised to:

• Choose only licensed valet service providers

• Report any suspicious or unregulated operations using official ITC communication channels

“Choosing licensed providers safeguards your rights and ensures the safety of your vehicle,” the statement added.

This move is part of Abu Dhabi’s broader strategy to enhance urban transport governance and user accountability, reinforcing its reputation as a city committed to smart, secure, and efficient public services.
