Doha, Jun 24: Qatar has strongly condemned Iran's recent missile strike on the US Al Udeid military base situated in its territory, calling the act a violation of its sovereignty.
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani stated on Tuesday that Doha would pursue "diplomatic and legal measures" against Tehran. “The violation of Qatar's sovereignty is unacceptable, and all diplomatic and legal measures will be taken. We hope that the matter will be contained as soon as possible and that this chapter will be behind us,” he said.
The statement comes amid escalating regional tensions following Iran's retaliatory attacks targeting US assets after American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Qatar, which hosts the largest US military base in the Middle East, has found itself in the crossfire of the ongoing Iran-US-Israel conflict.
Qatar’s firm stance signals a shift as the Gulf nation seeks to protect its territorial integrity while attempting to defuse further escalation in the region.
