H M Pernal’s fourth Konkani poetry collection ‘Zanel’ to be released on Jun 27

Mangaluru, Jun 23: Renowned Konkani poet and critic H M Pernal will release his fourth poetry collection titled Zanel (Window) on June 27 at 4.30 pm at the MCC Bank Administrative Office auditorium in Mangaluru. The book will be officially launched by Jnanpith awardee and celebrated Konkani writer Damodar Mauzo.

The event will also feature a book introduction by poet Melvyn Rodrigues, convener of the Konkani Advisory Board of the Sahitya Akademi. Vision Konkani patron, NRI entrepreneur, and philanthropist Michael D’Souza will preside over the function.

Sneha Sabnis, general secretary of the All India Konkani Parishad, and Kishoo Barkur, president of Kavita Trust and a noted short story writer, will be present as guests of honour.

Zanel (Window) marks H M Pernal’s fourth anthology of poems. A poet and journalist writing in Konkani and Kannada for over four decades, he has previously published three poetry collections, two short story anthologies, and a critical volume titled Konkani Kavya – Roopakagalu (Konkani Poetry – Metaphors).

His short story collection Beeg Ani Bigat received the Vimal V Pai World Konkani Literary Award, while Konkani Kavya Roopakagalu won accolades from both the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Goa Konkani Academy.

H M Pernal currently serves as the editor of the Kitall online literary magazine, publisher of the Arso Konkani literary journal, and chief editor of the Michael D’Souza Vision Konkani Book Grant initiative.
