Kundapur: Bike catches fire after collision with bus; rider killed

Kundapur, June 17: A 25-year-old biker, Sharath, a resident of Sigandur, died on the spot after his bike collided with a private bus near the Mallari curve close to Kenchanur on the Hemmadi–Kollur main road on Monday afternoon.

The private bus was heading from Hemmadi towards Kollur when the speeding bike crashed into it. Sharath sustained severe injuries to his head and left leg after falling onto the road. He was immediately rushed to the Kundapur Government Hospital by ambulance, but doctors declared him brought dead.

Due to the impact, petrol spilled on the radiator of the Duke bike, causing it to catch fire and burn completely.

Circle inspector Jayaram D Gowda of Shankaranarayana police station and Kundapur traffic SI Prasad Kumar visited the scene. A case has been registered at the Kundapur traffic police station.

    Henceforth, if accidents happen due to careless reckless rash driving of bike riders or vehicle drivers leading to deaths or critical injuries, huge fine and criminal case must be imposed on family members of those who were responsible.....this way reckless driving can be put an end to as family members will be in grief of losing their loved ones along with having to deal with fines and criminal cases...

    Negligence of the bus driver. He must be jailed also a heavy fine on the bus owner
