Kasargod, June 17: A tragic incident occurred on Monday afternoon near Kokkajal, close to Bandiyodu, where a young boy lost his life after being swept away in floodwaters.

The deceased has been identified as Sultan (7), son of Saadath from Kokkajal. The boy was playing near his house when he suddenly went missing, causing panic among family members who immediately launched a search, but he could not be found.

Suspecting that he might have been swept away in a nearby stream, firefighters from Uppala, along with police personnel and local residents, began an extensive search operation. Eventually, the boy was found entangled in bushes about 500 meters away from his house along the streambank.

He was immediately rushed to the Bandiyod hospital, but despite efforts, his life could not be saved.

A stream flows close to the family’s house, and it is suspected that the child may have accidentally fallen into it.

Sultan was a student of an English-medium school in Nayabazar, Uppala.
