Kundapur, Jun 16: A couple sustained serious injuries after a lorry rammed into their scooter from behind on the Jannadi stretch of the state highway under the jurisdiction of Hardalli Mandalli gram panchayat on June 15.
The victims, Narsimha Marakal (52) and Babi (46), were travelling from Ullur 74 towards Korgi on their scooter when a lorry transporting tiles from Chitradurga to Udupi collided with them from the rear.
The couple suffered severe injuries to their heads and limbs and have been admitted to a private hospital in Koteshwar, according to Ganesh Marakal, a staff member of Korgi gram panchayat and a relative of the injured.
The scooter was completely mangled in the accident. A case has been registered at the Kota police station.
