From MNC employee to IAS officer: Inspiring journey of Shweta Bharti

Nalanda, Jun 16: Shweta Bharti’s journey to becoming an IAS officer is a testament to grit, discipline, and unwavering determination. Hailing from Rajgir Bazaar in Bihar’s Nalanda district, Shweta cracked the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021 with an All India Rank (AIR) of 356 — without the help of any coaching.

Her path was far from conventional. After earning a degree in Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering from Bhagalpur Engineering College, Shweta began working full-time at Wipro, a prominent Indian multinational company. But deep down, she harboured the ambition to join the civil services.

Due to family responsibilities, quitting her job was never an option. Instead, she created a strict routine—working by day and studying through the night. To maintain focus, she distanced herself from social media and even disconnected from her smartphone completely during her UPSC preparation.

In 2020, Shweta cleared the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam, securing 65th rank and serving as a District Programme Officer (DPO) in the Education Department in West Champaran district. Yet her eyes remained on the UPSC dream.

Her persistence paid off when she cracked the Civil Services (Main) Exam 2021. She scored 774 marks in the written papers and 168 in the personality test, with a total of 942 marks.

From juggling a corporate job to achieving success in one of the toughest exams in the country, Shweta Bharti’s journey continues to inspire aspirants across India.

Some 20 to 25 years ago IAS, IFS, IPS officers were good. No political interference nothing. Now these Officers have become puppets of politicians. Only designation status but peace of mind. Anyway its ones choice and to fulfill their ambition.

Appreciate her grit and dedication... but she will realize that her sacrifice and hardwork was to be a puppet under the corrupt politicians or administration....
