Kasargod, June 12: The mysterious death of Satheesh (48), a resident of Chandankkad in Adur, has now been confirmed as a case of murder. Adur police have arrested his friend Chidananda in connection with the incident.

Satheesh was found semi-conscious on Tuesday evening near a neighbour’s house. Though he was rushed to Kasargod General Hospital, he was declared dead on arrival. The post-mortem revealed internal injuries, including a fracture in his neck vertebrae, prompting police to suspect foul play.

Based on the autopsy report, police detained Chidananda for questioning. During the interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the crime and was subsequently arrested.

According to sources, Satheesh and Chidananda had gathered at the house of a man named Chomanna Naik on Monday afternoon. Both were allegedly under the influence of alcohol when an argument broke out between them. In the scuffle that followed, Satheesh reportedly fell to the ground. Chidananda is said to have placed him on the veranda of the house before fleeing the scene.

When Satheesh failed to return home, his sister tried calling him, but received no response. A search ensued, and he was found lying unconscious on the veranda of a nearby house. Though he was taken to the hospital, his life could not be saved.

Police suspicion grew after Chidananda did not attend Satheesh’s funeral, further pointing to his involvement. Satheesh was known in the local community as a daiva performer.
