Bengaluru, Jun 9: A 33-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her alleged lover in a hotel room in Bengaluru after she reportedly expressed her desire to end their relationship.

The victim, identified as Harini, a mother of two and a resident of Kengeri, was stabbed 17 times by 25-year-old Yashas, a techie also from Kengeri. The incident took place on the night of June 7 at an OYO hotel in Poorna Prajna Layout, falling under the jurisdiction of Subramanyapura police station.

According to police, Harini had recently decided to distance herself from Yashas, leading to tension between the two. DCP South, Lokesh B Jagalasar, said, “The woman wanted to end the friendship and was trying to move on. Out of jealousy and rage, the accused stabbed her multiple times with a knife.”

Hotel staff discovered Harini's body two days after the incident when she failed to check out. Yashas, who had fled the scene, was arrested soon after and is currently in police custody.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Harini’s relationship with Yashas had caused turmoil in her personal life, particularly after her family became aware of it. Police have registered a case of murder and further investigation is underway.
