Manish Sisodia skips ACB questioning in Delhi School classrooms corruption case

New Delhi, Jun 9: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia did not appear for questioning by the Delhi government’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Monday in connection with the alleged Rs 2,000 crore corruption case linked to the construction of classrooms in government schools, PTI reported citing official sources.

The ACB had summoned both Sisodia and former PWD minister Satyendar Jain for questioning. While Jain appeared on Friday and faced questioning for over five hours, Sisodia was expected to attend on Monday but his counsel informed officials he was unavailable due to a prior commitment. “He will be called again,” an ACB source said.

The FIR registered on Apr 30 alleges financial irregularities in the construction of more than 12,000 classrooms or semi-permanent structures during the previous AAP government’s tenure.

Sources said Jain appeared evasive during questioning and may be summoned again. According to allegations, a CVC report highlighting irregularities and inflated costs was hidden for three years. Jain reportedly shifted blame to the concerned department and failed to explain the illegal appointment of architects.

Defending the AAP government’s record, Jain called the case “politically motivated” and criticised the BJP for focusing on politics instead of governance. He highlighted achievements like uninterrupted power supply during AAP’s decade-long rule and questioned BJP’s unfulfilled promises.

“The BJP has given the complaint on its letterhead and inquiries are being conducted to settle political grudges,” Jain said.
