Gaza, Jun 7: A heart-wrenching video from war-torn Gaza has stirred emotions across social media, showing a father gifting his daughter her favourite treat a pack of Parle-G biscuits bought at an astronomical price of Rs 2,300. The clip, posted by X user Mohammed Jawad, highlights the severe humanitarian crisis in the region amid the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict.
“After a long wait, I finally got Rafif her favorite biscuits today. Even though the price jumped from €1.5 to over €24, I just couldn’t deny Rafif her favorite treat,” Jawad wrote in his post, which included a video of the child happily receiving the biscuits and a photo of her relishing them.

Though the post’s claims could not be independently verified, the content has gone viral, sparking an outpouring of sympathy and calls for help. Several social media users tagged India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr S Jaishankar, urging the government to send more Parle-G biscuits and other humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians.
One user wrote, “S Jaishankar, that baby is eating India’s favourite biscuit. Can we please send more Parle-G to Palestine?” Another said, “It’s painful to see a child crave for a simple treat. Let India step up with food and medicine aid.” Others reminisced about their own love for the glucose biscuit, calling the situation “tragic and heartbreaking.”
According to a report by NDTV, humanitarian aid reaching Gaza is often diverted to the black market, where prices skyrocket. Dr Khaled Alshawwa, a surgeon in Gaza City, said, “Most goods enter as humanitarian aid, free of charge. But due to scarcity and closed borders, only a few receive them. These items end up on the black market and are sold at unaffordable prices.”
He further explained that border closures for over three months have led to an acute shortage of essentials, impacting more than 2 million people. “The basic needs being allowed in don’t match the population’s requirement,” he added.

As the war continues, such stories reflect the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where even a simple childhood treat has become a luxury out of reach for many.
