Chikkaballapur, June 3: A shocking incident has emerged in Chikkaballapur where a 55-year-old man has been accused of raping a 6-year-old girl.

The incident came to light after the victim's mother filed a complaint, leading the Chikkaballapur women’s police to register an FIR against the accused, who is identified as the father of a local cleric. Following the complaint, the accused was arrested and has since been remanded to judicial custody.

Reports suggest that the accused, who was given a room to stay in the mosque premises out of respect, exploited this trust. He allegedly lured the young girl with chocolates before committing the heinous act.

The accused, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had moved to Chikkaballapur 20 years ago and has been reportedly selling clothes on footpaths to make a living.

Following the revelation of this incident, local residents have expressed their outrage, particularly targeting the local community for providing shelter to the accused within the mosque.
