Mumbai, June 2: Member of Parliament for Dakshina Kannada Capt Brijesh Chowta has successfully concluded a significant diplomatic mission as part of a high-level all-party parliamentary delegation representing India on a five-nation tour to highlight the country's firm stance against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
The mission formed part of India’s extended global outreach following Operation Sindhoora, aimed at reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and strengthening international cooperation.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this campaign aimed to carry India’s united voice against terrorism to the global community and expose Pakistan’s façade as a state sponsor of terror,” said Capt Brijesh Chowta.

“It was a matter of great pride to represent not only India but also my home region of Dakshina Kannada on such an important platform. Engaging with diplomats, foreign government officials, and thinkers across Europe offered a rare and enriching administrative experience,” he added.
“This foreign mission has been both deeply memorable and meaningful. I sincerely thank the Central Government and the prime minister for the opportunity to be part of this distinguished delegation,” he said.
Spain visit: A fitting conclusion to India's diplomatic campaign
The delegation’s final leg in Spain began in Madrid with a solemn tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue, symbolising India’s peaceful but determined approach.
The team held an interaction with the Indian diaspora, where Spanish businessman Arturo Fernández Álvarez, a survivor of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, stood in solidarity, joining the call to condemn Pakistan-backed terrorism.
On the concluding day, meetings were held with Antonio Gutiérrez Limones, vice-president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Senate. The delegation also engaged with members of the Spanish government, civil society representatives, and the Association of Victims of Terrorism, which supports more than 4,800 terror victims.
Latvia engagement: First Indian delegation post embassy opening
Before Spain, the delegation visited Latvia, where they met Inara Murniece, chairperson of the Saeima’s Foreign Affairs Committee, and Ingrida Circene, chair of the India-Latvia Parliamentary Cooperation Group. The discussions also involved senior Latvian officials, Baltic Assembly representatives, and Indian diplomats.
The team met with state secretary of the ministry of foreign affairs, Andžejs Vilums, and Ambassador Andžejs Pildegovics, Special Envoy for Latvia’s 2026–27 UNSC candidacy, and director of the department of International Organisations and Human Rights.
The visit holds historic significance as it marked the first high-level Indian parliamentary delegation to Latvia since India opened its embassy in Riga in July 2024.
Broad global support for India's anti-terror efforts
Since departing New Delhi on May 22, the delegation led by MP Kanimozhi covered Russia, Slovenia, Greece, Latvia, and Spain. In all five countries, strong statements of support were issued for India’s efforts against terrorism. The recent Pahalgam terror attack also drew widespread international condemnation.
This extensive diplomatic exercise not only strengthened bilateral relations but also advanced India's goal of globally isolating Pakistan for its continued support of terrorism—earning what officials describe as a “response beyond expectations.”
