Chelsea aims for UEFA clean sweep as Maresca seeks historic win against Betis

Wroclaw, May 27: Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is eyeing a place in football history as his side gears up to face Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League final on Wednesday. A win would make Chelsea the first club to claim all five major UEFA men's titles.

The Blues have already won the Champions League, Europa League, Super Cup, and the now-defunct Cup Winners’ Cup. The Conference League is the only trophy missing from their cabinet.

“Winning this would show that we are back as a winning club in Europe,” Maresca said. His side recently sealed a top-four Premier League finish, securing Champions League qualification with a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Maresca has rotated his youthful squad throughout the competition and hit back at critics who questioned their readiness. “All the ones who thought we weren’t good enough they were wrong,” he said.

Facing Chelsea is a strong Betis side led by 71-year-old Manuel Pellegrini a mentor to Maresca during their time at Malaga and West Ham. “I owe so much to him,” said Maresca.

Betis, in their first European final, boast experienced players like Isco and Antony. Spanish clubs also carry an imposing record: they’ve won all 23 UEFA finals they’ve reached since 2001.

“It’s not just about winning it’s about how you win,” said Pellegrini, who promised an entertaining contest in Wroclaw.
