CM Siddaramaiah confirms receiving threat calls, criticises BJP over Suhas Shetty murder reaction

Daijiworld Media Network - Mandya

Mandya, May 3: During a visit to Mandya, chief minister Siddaramaiah revealed that he has been receiving threat calls and said the police have been directed to investigate and take action against those responsible. He confirmed the threats while responding to reporters' questions about similar calls received by Assembly Speaker U T Khader.

Addressing the recent murder of rowdy-sheeter Suhas Shetty in Mangaluru, Siddaramaiah stated that he had discussed the case with police officials. He noted that Shetty had a criminal background and said the ADGP (Law and Order) has been sent to oversee the investigation. The chief minister emphasized that those behind the murder must be brought to justice, regardless of their identity.

When asked if the murder was planned, he said the motive would become clear during the investigation. He also criticised the BJP for politicising the incident, accusing the party of exploiting such tragedies for electoral gain.

Turning the spotlight on the Centre, Siddaramaiah questioned the BJP’s silence over the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people were killed. He pointed out the Prime Minister’s absence from the site and questioned the lack of police presence during the attack, calling it a major security lapse.

On the issue of liquor price hikes, the chief minister said the government’s intent was not to ban alcohol but to discourage consumption as part of a broader temperance policy.

Political drama to divert the issues in one's own state. CM should concentrate on security in public places and law and order in the state more than pointing fingers at center for terrorists attack. Coastal Karnataka should be brought to normal first and some radicals should be deported as soon as possible irrespective of their identities....

How silly and funny that the CM of the state receives threat calls. The main focus here will be, as usual, the drama between the ruling and opposition, rather than capture of the murder suspects.
