Pahalgam, Apr 23: Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Baisaran meadows in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday, the location where 26 tourists tragically lost their lives in a terror attack the previous day.

Shah began his visit by attending a wreath-laying ceremony at the Police Control Room, where he paid his respects to the victims of the gruesome attack. Following the ceremony, Shah traveled by helicopter to Baisaran, a popular tourist spot located about 110 kilometers from Srinagar, where he was briefed by security officials on the incident and the ongoing investigation.

On Tuesday, terrorists launched an attack at Baisaran, a prime tourist destination in the south Kashmir region, killing at least 26 people and injuring several others, mostly tourists. The incident has left the nation in shock, with authorities tightening security and ramping up efforts to track down the perpetrators.

Shah's swift visit to the site, within hours of the attack, demonstrates the urgency with which the government is addressing the situation. He was briefed by Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, who provided details about the incident and the current security measures in place.

The terror attack, which has deeply shaken the nation, is a somber reminder of the challenges in maintaining peace and security in the region.
