Panaji, Apr 23: In one of the largest narcotics seizures in Goa this year, a 29-year-old BBA graduate from Kerala was arrested on Tuesday by the Goa Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) for allegedly possessing over 110 grams of high-potency LSD liquid, valued at approximately Rs 11 crore.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Sameer from Palakkad, Kerala, had been living in Goa for the past five years and ran a guesthouse in the bustling beach belt of Baga. Sameer also arranged taxis for tourists, a service that, according to officials, doubled as a front for his alleged drug operations.
According to DySP Nerlon Albuquerque, the arrest was made during a sting operation in which Sameer was contacted by undercover officers posing as customers. He reportedly quoted Rs 13,000 for 10 drops of LSD and was arrested when he arrived to deliver the substance.
Further investigation led the ANC team to a flat in Siolim, believed to be operated by the main accused in the case, from where a significant cache of narcotics was seized. Sameer reportedly acted as a courier, picking up drugs from the flat and delivering them to clients. Authorities confirmed that no narcotics were stored at his Baga guesthouse.
“The raid took a massive turn when we recovered 106 grams more of high-micron LSD liquid along with 101 grams of ganja from the flat,” said DySP Albuquerque. He added that the LSD seized could potentially be used to produce around 12 lakh blotting papers, each fetching Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 in the illicit market.
Police revealed that Sameer bought the LSD at Rs 700 per drop and sold it for Rs 1,300, operating mainly within the psy trance party circuit—a known hotspot for psychedelic drug use.
While the key supplier remains at large and is believed to be out of state, the ANC is continuing its probe to dismantle what appears to be a well-organized drug distribution network operating along Goa’s popular coastal stretches.
