Second PU exams: 126 absent in DK, 44 in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 2: Second PU Examinations began in the twin districts on Friday and the first day exams ended successfully.

In the district of Dakshina Kannada, 20776 students enrolled for the Kannada language examination, out of which, 20650 attended while 126 remained absent. For the Arabic examination 191 students registered and all appeared.

In the 53 examination centres of Dakshina Kannada (DK), 36147 students have registered themselves. Out of this 34125 are general students while 1635 are writing the examination privately. 387 students are repeaters.

Prohibition orders are in place 200 meters around the examination centres. Photocopy shops were closed. No untoward incident is reported on the first days of examination.

In the district of Udupi, 99.53% of students wrote the Kannada examination on Friday. 44 students remained absent.

For the Kannada language examination, 9389 students including 4361 boys and 5028 girls registered. Out of this, 44 students consisting of 25 boys and 19 girls remained absent. Only 9345 students wrote the examination. No incidents of copying or any kind of illegal activity is reported. Officials including ADC Mamata Devi visited the examination centres.
