Mangaluru enjoys first rain, brings welcome respite from heat

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jun 10: After endless days of blistering heat, the people of Mangaluru on Saturday June 10 morning were blessed with a heavy downpour.

The shower brought welcome respite to the city that was smouldering under the summer heat.

The nostalgic fragrance of the soil pervaded the air as rain accompanied by thunder and lightning drenched the city.

It had rained in certain areas in the past few days, but a heavy downpour was witnessed in almost the entire city on Saturday.

With the Biparjoy cyclone taking a vicious turn on Arabian Sea, in the next few hours, heavy rains with thunder and lightning are expected in many parts of Karnataka including Dakshina Kannada (DK), Udupi and Uttara Kannada.

Unless radical steps are taken to conserve and enhance the supply of potable water using scientific methods, we are in for big trouble in the coming years as the city's water feeding capacity is already overdone! With ground water table going to abysmally lower levels even borewells will be of no use!

What happens to NO2 during a lightning storm? During a lightning storm, NO2, nitrogen dioxide and nitric oxide form and nitrogen oxide reacts with water to form nitric acid. Nitric acid makes water suitable as a nutrient for plants. There are four processes in the cycling of nitrogen through the atmosphere and microorganisms play a part in each process....Tak...Takk...

We dont have govt buses Rudy sir. No issues....I dont want to run simply behind the free bus travel. Even for getting 2,000/-, some other conditions are added to the previous conditions. This online application will not be successful as app doesnt respond smoothly. I feel, govt should find out who are really eligible for all the freebies before its implementation.....Tell me, if a person can buy liquor, why his wife should apply for freebies ? Or free rice ? Or free units ? Govt should do survey and proceed.

Nowadays, most women, mostly, from lower strata of society, mostly laborers, have a 90 or 180 after their work is over! It's only when booze becomes an addiction, it becomes an issue!! Nowadays, many people are addicted to smart phones, pornography, online chatting, ganga, MDMA, nymphomania, and what not; so, anything in excess is harmful!!

Rudy sir, just slight clarification from my side regarding consumption of liquor....Not only lower category women going for 90/180 ....Even middle class women too !! If a lady has alcohol at the functions and doesnot loose balance or comfortable means she is taking regularly at home also !! Otherwise it gives kick right ? (Rich people are not taken into consideration, they have mini bars at home) Lastly, majority students (both boys and girls) are consumers of liquor ...on daily basis or weekends take regular alcohol either in the hotels or at friends place...!! ...Tell me who is eligible for freebies......😉

Cynthia, what you are telling is a fact; mostly at functions many female tipplers help themselves generously! Richer ones prefer to act like saints at functions unless the stuff is a good quality Scotch brand Regarding students too, you are right; after the boozing session you know what happens; that's why rubber sales are the highest!!!! That's why many Uber rich students prefer this place the most as it's very liberal!!

Rudy sir, rich category lady folk do not act saintly while consuming liquor at functions.....They openly do so. Ladies belonging to middle class act saintly....hide under the chair or sideways and drink. When speaking they give big lecture on the consumption of liquor. Rich people dont have to do so. They are free at home.

El Nino is coming. Not good for the farmers, and these freebies will definitely break bone of the karnataka economy..

Central government doesn't encourage freebies, it wants people to work and earn.No government can survive by giving frebies. If done country may go in the way of Sri Lanka and Pakistan

fifty crore population is dependent on dairy farming and leather industry. central government is killing it by cow vigilantism making the farmers insecure. BJP is the reason for job losses and GDP decline since 2016. If subsidies and freebees are not good for the nation, then they must create labor intensive jobs.

Check out how many lacs of crores worth ₹2000 notes are missing from the system and why the administration is hell bent on allowing to deposit notes back into the banks without any documentation? These freebies are nothing compared to the missing ₹2000 notes; what say?

El Nino and LA Nina are wether patterns in the pacific ocean. Usually El Nino brings less rain and LA Nina good rains, but IMD has said in spite of El Nino this time rains will be normal. Hope this prediction turns out correct.

Monty, for a city like Mangaluru depending on premonsoon rains is very very wrong; the water supply should comfortably last till 10th of June! If multistoried buildings are built at the same pace, imagine the water supply conditions in DK??
