Mangaluru, Jun 9: Stalwart Kannada writer late Yashwant Chittal will be remembered in a commemorative programme named ‘Chittala Chitta’ to be held at the World Konkani Centre (WKC), Shakti Nagar, Mangaluru at 4 pm on Saturday June 10.

Distinguished Kannada writers, Jayant Kaikini and Vivek Shanbhag, will come together to reminisce about the life and era of Chittal, a revered author, while offering valuable insights into his remarkable writing. This special occasion will also witness the unveiling of Chittal's portrait at the esteemed World Konkani Hall of Fame, adding to his well-deserved recognition and honouring his literary contributions. Nandagopal Shenoy, president of the World Konkani Centre will preside over the function.

The celebrated Kannada writer, whose mother tongue was Konkani, lived his most part in cosmopolitan and corporate Mumbai. But he celebrated Kannada all through his life. He is well known for his short stories as well as novels earning him Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award, Sahitya Academy Award, Vardhamana Award, Adikavi Pampa Award etc.

World Konkani Hall of Fame is the embodiment of Konkani spirit. It is the place where noble sons and daughters of mother Konkani shine through their portraits. And the collective energy encapsulated in this hall inspires the generations of Konkani speaking people.
