Mangaluru, Mar 28: A series of bike thefts have been reported in Ullal in recent days, with another theft occurring in the wee hours of Tuesday, March 28.

A bike parked near Koragajjana Katte in Kotekar was stolen, and the incident was captured on CCTV. Although bike thefts have been occurring on NH 66 within the Ullal police station limits for some time now, the thieves have not been caught.

The stolen bike belonged to Rajesh, a DJ player at Kotekar Vinayaka Electricals, and was parked on an inner road. The theft, carried out by two suspects at around 1:42 am, was captured by the CCTV camera.

In addition to this, a bike theft has occurred at the old Bike sale showroom in Thokkottu, and a complaint has been lodged at the Ullal police station. Last Saturday, during the Kambala festival at Naringana, a person's bike was stolen. However, Konaje police assumed that the bike was lost in the crowd and did not register a complaint.

Several other instances of bike thefts have been reported in the area over the years. Gangadhar's bike was stolen a few months ago near Kolya Gangoos kitchen, while a bullet bike was stolen from a businessman's house at Kotekar Koragana Katte five years ago. The bike, whose number plate was changed, was later found in Madikeri. Two years ago, another bike was stolen from the same house and left on the roadside.

It is said that the pick-up vehicle of the thieves broke down when they planned to steal a bullet bike from a house at Kolya. The gang, who brandish swords and travel in an Omni vehicle, steals bikes and leaves them on the roadside. An entrepreneur discovered through CCTV footage that a gang arrives in a pick-up vehicle and systematically carries two-wheelers to Kerala.
