IndiGo flight takes 48 hours from Bahrain to Mangaluru – Passenger narrate ordeal

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Mar 24: An IndiGo flight from Bahrain to Mangaluru took a whopping two days instead of a few hours. The passengers, who were on board expressed their anguish at the poor service of the airlines.

The passengers were made to undergo the harrowing experience due to multiple issues at Mumbai and Bahrain.

It all began at Bahrain as the airlines rescheduled the flight 24 hours later due to bird hit. The passengers who had arrived from far off places were not accommodated in hotels.

One person did not report to the flight on time the next day and the flight crew made all others to wait for two hours for that individual to arrive. Because of this delay of two hours, the connecting flight from Mumbai to Mangaluru could not be boarded by 12 passengers. They were made to wait for more than 12 hours at Mumbai airport.

One of the passengers, who underwent the horrific experience said, “Only on reaching Mumbai we could put forth our concern as Bahrain is a foreign country. The airlines did not provide us any options when we, bound to Mangaluru, could not board our connecting flight due to delay at Bahrain. We were not given any food or accommodation in Mumbai where we waited for more than 12 hours for our connecting flight. It is really sorry state of affairs at IndiGo airlines.”

The airlines, on its part, responded, “IndiGo flight 6E1403 operating from Mumbai to Bahrain faced a bird-hit on arrival at Bahrain due to which the aircraft had to be grounded. Subsequently, flight 6E1404 to be operated from Bahrain to Mumbai was delayed.

"All the affected customers were provided with accommodation, meals and assistance. They were accommodated on the next available flight. The customers were also offered the option of a full refund for their tickets. The grounded aircraft was released back into service post a thorough inspection as per protocol. Customer safety is always of paramount importance to us."

"We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers,” read a press release by IndiGo Airlines.

Very sad.Incase of delay from airlines side when more than six hours they have to provide food ,and stay .When not have to pay penalty But not accommodation in a flight.Flight is not a accommadation .There you cant relax from long hours sleeplessness. Why dont you all take a lawyer and file a case against the air line. They should give compansation for this delay. But they are saying they had offered money ?What is right here?Anyway they are not supposed to wait for a passenger for two hours :There is something wrong here.Flight have to leave the aerodrome as per schedule :When not ,it should pay penalty usually unless some casualty happened. One thing is sure .In our country no rules and regulations but their own.I lie as they want ,do as they want ,but when passenger does delay ,or fault take immediate unnecessary action. We never improve Just imagine this Mangalore airport has not improved in the last 50years as I know and will not next decade too comparing Mallus airports.

This indigo flight is the worst flight. Because of this flight our company gives us because low price. They offer nothing in flight.they Keep 5 to 6 cabin crew for what? Instead better keep 2 security guards We are getting once in 2 years ticket but we have to spend 1 day in transit. Jet airways was the best. Better to close this and give permission to jet

Indigo has monopoly in India and for next few years you have no other choice. I have a returned Mangalore / Bangalore return ticket next week which is costing me around 9000(incl taxes, convenience fee..etc) per person. At the same time I have booked TWO return tickets from Bangalore to Mumbai costing me 11400 (on Indigo). Both tickets were booked on the same day, One sector has high competition so the prices are low despite the flying timing almost double. No other airlines is allowed to fly Mangalore /Bangalore sector so Indigo ROCKS. Those who are responsible are closing their eyes and ENJOY

I don't know why so much talk about Indigo. I am a regular traveller and had a bad experience with spice too. Regarding Bird hit, its not the Airlines mistake and as its a budget airliine you have to pay for every thing including food. Regarding the air fare from Mangalore to Bangalore, I have necer paid over ₹3,500.00 whenwver I bioked a week or two in advance. Normal fare of Indigo from Mangalore to Bangalore is ₹2831.00et

If there was a genuine problem in the Aircraft, it's always better to make sure everything is fine before pressing it into service no matter how people blame, react because lives are important. At the same time Airlines should do alternative arrangements as soon as possible because when booking tickets they don't even give ONE rupee discount infact they charge for every inch of space in the Aircraft including the cancellation, extra luggage charges.
