Mangaluru: Organ donation - Deceased's family gets Rs five lac compensation from CM special fund

Mangaluru, Mar 22: the family of a youth, who was brain dead and donated his organs, was given Rs five lac from the CM’s special grant fund.

Yashraj (16), son of Tyagaraj, Mamata Karkera couple, residents of Ullal Mastikatte, Baiderepalu, got flung out of the city bus on September 7, 2022 as he was going to college. A seriously injured Yashraj was admitted to Indiana Hospital in the city. Doctors declared Yashraj brain dead on September 13. According to the decision of Yashraj’s parents, his organs were donated.

MLA Khader, who visited the house of Yashraj, who made great sacrifice in his death, assured the family to get relief from special grant of the CM’s fund.

MLA U T Khader said, “Organ donation is an emotional matter. Awareness regarding this should be created among the public. When Yashraj’s was brain dead, his family members donated his organs and thereby set example to the society. Six people were given a new lease of life because of Yashraj’s parents. Recently, organs were donated by the family of Bhooshan Rai, who died in an accident at Kuthar. I have appealed grant for his family too from the CM’s fund and soon the compensation will be released.”
