Bantwal: Three pedestrians injured in wasp attack, one serious

Bantwal, Mar 19: A group of wasps attacked three pedestrians who were walking towards the bus stand on Sunday, March 19 noon in Kalpane here. While one person was seriously injured, the other two received minor injuries.

Poovappa (61), a resident of Kalpane, was seriously injured and has been admitted to the ICU of A J Hospital in Mangaluru. Mahesh and Gopal were admitted to Thumbay Hospital and are currently out of danger.

The three victims were walking towards the B C Road bus stand from Kalpane when the wasps attacked suddenly. Poovappa, who works in a truck body building workshop, was on his weekly day off and was heading to B C Road for personal reasons.

Auto rickshaw drivers from Kalpane helped ferry all three of the injured individuals to the hospital immediately.

    Frequent attacks by wild wasps and bees may be because of the destruction of their secure habitats in deep foliaged spaces in the jungles!
