Attitude Determines Your Altitude

August 12, 2025

Youths or youngsters are assets of a nation. Youth power is a country's strength, and the growth and prosperity of a country largely depend on the youth community.

As a student, every child develops a sense of attitude towards their life, either positive or negative. The way they look at things and grasp them largely depends on the way they perceive them. In the technological era, when everything is available at our fingertips, it is misleading our youngsters more towards negativity than positivity.

The craving to get the best compliment, the craving to be recognised, the craving to move ahead of all, is bringing a negative impact on the lives of youngsters.
Social media is a major cause behind this because every success is posted on social media accounts not just to get appreciation, but to get compliments from more and more people. Rather than believing the stories of failure, people are entertaining success stories—often those gained through unethical means.

I agree that every human being has self-actualization and self-esteem needs, but this need is growing into greed and destroying the minds of our young population. Compulsion and pressure are created in youths who are giving their best but are not being validated by their team or boss. This impacts their professional life and, more significantly, their personal life. They get frustrated by seeing the success posts of their colleagues or peer group when they too worked hard but failed to get recognition for a number of reasons.

Because of social media, many want to be popular to the entire world by getting likes, comments, and subscriptions to their social media accounts. Earlier, when there was only the real world, these feelings of insecurity and jealousy existed, but nowadays they have led to crimes. Just because someone didn't appreciate your good work at the workplace, educational institutions, home, or in society, people get frustrated and mentally disturbed to the extent that they may either end their life or take the life of one whose success they couldn't digest.

Competition is necessary in life, but it should be healthy competition; there should be sportsmanship among all youths. Not only athletes, but all should focus on participation or giving their best at work, rather than focusing on the end results. Attitude determines the altitude of your success. In seeking appreciation and validation from all, we are increasingly doing work just for fame, and we are less concerned about quality and process.

Being recognised by the world gives happiness and joy, but to get this, one should not forget humanity. Success is not instant noodles where everything happens in a jiffy. For a few, success comes early; for others, later. That does not mean you have the right to choose the wrong path and do wrong deeds to get it.
Success brings ego automatically when you don't have control over your emotions.

Balancing your emotions when you are happy, sad, or depressed is the most important thing nowadays, because many people take wrong steps due to a lack of emotional stability. That is why emotional intelligence tests have now become an important part of the interview process. Many situations arise in the workplace where employees need to work under stress, and those who are weak at handling their emotions will definitely not be able to handle such traumatic situations.

Yoga, meditation, exercise, recreation, reading books, and spending quality time with friends are some useful and proven ways we can follow to balance our emotions and lead a healthy lifestyle. Staying away from social media platforms is ideal to overcome insecurity and an egoistic attitude. Social media platforms are the major point of contact where people are affected by feelings of insecurity and lack of recognition.
