Strangers
We have returned to being strangers once more—
No smile, no greeting, not even a glance.
Back when I knew not of your existence,
At peace was I and smiling away.
Hope didn’t wilt away after blooming.
Nor could storms ravage the peace.
The thorns I walked upon couldn't make me grieve.
But then, from strangers, we became so much more.
In that fragile shift, something broke—
Too fast, too deep, too soon.
Now, the storm that shatters my soul
Bears your name.
The hurt that weighs in my chest,
The tears that rise uncalled,
The aching solitude that wraps around me,
The endless wait for a promise to unfold;
Are the bequest you gave me.
And so, we live like strangers again,
Strangers with memories
Buried beneath practiced indifference.
There’s a quiet knowing,
A growing void,
A silence that never speaks.
A pain that never heals.
