Broken by Love

Broken by Love
In the sadness of my soul I caught a glimpse of your mind,
In the heaviness of my heart I glimpsed into the brokenness of your soul,
When I thought that my heart was set ablaze with your indifference,
Your soul died a thousand deaths from the battle that raged in your heart.

I saw your smile among strangers and sensed not the sadness in your eyes,
I saw you embracing new ways, but not the thorns that covered your path,
I saw you reaching for the stars, but not the toil that tore you apart.

I made myself whole again from the pieces that would complete you.
You gave me yourself, but I turned a blind eye to my dictate consuming you.
You bridged the chasm of anger and doubt with warm love and embrace.

As you hold your tears back and your soul from breaking to shatters,
I see you as I am meant to see - broken , anxious and hurt.
You have been brave long enough and its now time to rest;
Let us together heal each other with love, care and respect.

May you be able to forgive me for crushing your soul with hate.
Let my tears be able to soothe the pain that your heart bears.

May we build our hopes with deep trust and lasting love,
And may the path we tread again be blessed by the Almighty above.
