Falling at Different Ages

Falling at Different Ages

Refreshing memories of the mind
And flashing back to when a kid was I
Have to accept that pampered a lot was I
Where falling down meant
Immense care, love which one can’t imagine.

When months turned into years, grew I
Had to begin schooling as a routine
During this period of life
Falling down meant
Shame, insult and topic for gossip.

Long awaited college days finally arrived
Falling down here meant
Laughter for best friends,
The courage to laugh at oneself, keep one’s head high
Not to make fuss to gain sympathy.

And now I am so old that
Falling down means lots of pain, ache
Heavy dose of medicines and injections to follow
Not to forget several days of hospitalization
And the bill that makes me bankrupt at one shot.
