The concept of God is fascinating and ironical. Gods mostly preach peace and love but in his name... Billions have lost their lives. They say that God is everywhere but then they build temples and mosques to find him. But in today's India, symbols of God is everywhere from politics to homes to the street corners.
I have been fascinated by the concept of God for a very long time. But, I think I have truly been touched by his presence in the Boys Hostel toilet many years ago. It was the time I was afraid but then felt a belief that everything would be alright. I have blamed him for all my failures and have said that I had to fight God for my few rare successes. I have read books on philosophy and religion and spirituality but then I understand God through a poorly rated Hollywood movie.
The movie said God is in belief. The Energy of God is not anywhere but the energy that fills out hearts when we believe. It is the belief that makes us get up every morning and hope for a better day. The day will become better or worse by our work and the way we live it. The energy for work comes from belief that it will be useful and God resides there.
God is basically an enabling entity. He gives you Energy from your belief and creates an opportunity to use that energy. If you pray for patience, would God give you happiness or the opportunity to be happy. If you pray for Good Health, would God improve your Blood Pressure or give you an opportunity to improve it through peace of mind. God is both inside (belief energy) and outside (opportunity).
As another movie said, there is nothing such as bad news/opportunity. It's just news. It becomes bad because we believe that we will be unable to deal with the news or its consequences. We fear uncertainty as it tests our belief. We wonder if we can deal with it. It is often said that a crisis is the great opportunity to waste. It is because the possibilities are endless as the opportunity would be different.
God believes in consumer sovereignty. He does not force rules but gives us all the freedom to do use energy and opportunity the way we like it. It's our choice to use it or waste it. So we make choice at each step each for internal and external God-- do we create the energy though our belief and do we use the opportunity or not.
Absence of belief, it is an absence energy which we call God. Heat and Light both contain energy. We often relate warmth and light to God (energy) and darkness & cold to his absence. Darkness has uncertainty and unknown. It therefore lacks our belief.
Long before Einstein and nuclear science, people seem to have known that Energy and Matter are interchangeable.
It also comes from psychological concept of "projection". In a group, we project a part of ourselves outside and it is shown by different members of the group. If we each are a little happy, one member in a group would be very happy and would show that happiness. If we are each very happy, then a few members would be dancing around.
In religion, the power that comes from belief gets accumulated into an entity which could be a body or a spiritual idea we call God. Follower of a religion accumulate this energy in form of an investment account that we see as embodiments of God. Each follower deposits and draws a small part accumulated belief energy when he/she prays.
Miracles are incidents that are beyond our energy or belief resources. When we pray hard, miracles tend to happen because we draw from the energy of others. It is like taking a loan from the bank. We may be able to build a small workshop but with the loan we would now be able to build an entire factory. And it truly is a miracle.
A few weeks back, I was standing in the stands of a cricket Stadium and Sachin Tendulkar walked out to bat. When he hit the ball to the boundary, somebody standing close-by commented, "I have seen God.. He plays for India". Cricket has become a religion because people follow it and believe in it. That belief is embodied by Sachin- a hero who who would overcome the impossible. He has an energy whose source is not a chocolate powder called Boost but the belief of the millions of his fans. He uses thief belief to perform miracles.
The comparison around Sachin Tendulkar to various cricketers is similar to the war of religions to claim that one God is greater than another. It is a battle to determine if belief and the energy available by one is greater than the other.
I think it's a senseless battle. Because the belief energy is like happiness-- for a true heart, sharing happiness increases it. Similarly, drawing of the energy of belief increases it. Like funds available with a bank increases with increase in number of loans and its investment into productive assesses. It grows and does not diminish.
Hindu Religion has taught us that there is no need for comparison as energy of belief has the ability to grow like an investment. There is hence enough space for every God, all 330 million of them. Each God embodies energy required for different things from destroying evil to gambling. It is like different loan plans.
Maybe to avoid the conflict if greatest God, later religions decided to have just one form of God- either a body or spirit/idea.
Early Morning Prayers
Have you ever wondered why we pray to God early in the morning? It is because it is the time when our belief is the most that our day would be productive. It is also the time when we have fresh energy and an opportunity of an entire day before us.
Religions that preach to seek from God usually preach to pray in the mornings. Religions that preach to thank God usually pray post the work-on the dinner table and on Sundays. One believes that one has to seek while the other believes that the God will give and one ought to thank.
So, if you ever want to see God, you don't need to rush to religious sites but you can just see him in the mirror, in your determination and in belief that you would do well. He would be in the energy you so create and He is also in the opportunity that is before you.
God Bless us all with energy and opportunity!
