Ermaye Falls - One place you don't want to miss!

Reluctantly waking up early morning, travelling in packed buses, scorching sun, blood sucking leeches, flooding sweat, treading stony paths…forms the title card before the dream film titled ‘Ermaye falls’ begins to play in the mind’s screen. It takes us a while to come out of the spell cast by this Tulunad’s fresh water beauty. When, ultimately, our eyes registers the sight of Ermaye falls after the painstaking stunts specified above, we feel as relieved as a mother who has just become a mother. And what follows is joy and utter joy!

This aqua wonder is buried deep in the heart of Kolli - a village 18 kilometers away from the ever pious and famous Dharmasthala. The route to this water falls runs via Belthangady, Layla and finally halts at Kolli. Whether one is luxurious enough to afford a bike or modest to be a bus passenger, one has to walk the last couple of kilometers to reach the magical Ermaye falls.

Being a tributary to river Nethravathi, Ermaye falls takes birth from the amassed rain water and natural springs of earth. Should the water of Ermaye be bottled for sales, its certain that Ermaye will give a run for Kinley or Bisleri in business.

Kolli is also the abode of the goddess Durgaparameshwari which precedes Ermaye falls and it should never be a problem to thank the creator before enjoying her creation.

Are you bored to death from your monotonous routine? Are you a pessimist who believes life has nothing to offer? Are you a loser who strongly believes that nobody can stop you from being a loser? Want to have out of world experience? Then the best suggestion would be ‘Ermaye falls’. This might not necessarily be the panacea to all your problems but it will make you realize how beautiful the life and nature is and develop a bit of winner in you.

  • In case of a short story / article, the write-up should be at least one-and-a-half pages in word document in Times New Roman font 12 (or, about 700-800 words). Contributors are requested to keep their write-ups limited to a maximum of four pages. Longer write-ups may be sent in parts to publish in installments. Each installment should be sent within a week of the previous installment. A single poem sent for publication should be at least 3/4th of a page in length. Multiple short poems may be submitted for single publication.
  • All submissions should be in Microsoft Word format or text file. Pictures should not be larger than 1000 pixels in width, and of good resolution. Pictures should be attached separately in the mail and may be numbered if the author wants them to be placed in order.
  • Submission of the article / poem / short story does not automatically entail that it would be published. Daijiworld editors will examine each submission and decide on its acceptance/rejection purely based on merit.
  • Daijiworld reserves the right to edit the submission if necessary for grammar and spelling, without compromising on the author's tone and message.
  • Daijiworld reserves the right to reject submissions without prior notice. Mails/calls on the status of the submission will not be entertained. Contributors are requested to be patient.
  • The article / poem / short story should not be targeted directly or indirectly at any individual/group/community. Daijiworld will not assume responsibility for factual errors in the submission.
  • Once accepted, the article / poem / short story will be published as and when we have space. Publication may take up to four weeks from the date of submission of the write-up, depending on the number of submissions we receive. No author will be published twice in succession or twice within a fortnight.
  • Time-bound articles (example, on Mother's Day) should be sent at least a week in advance. Please specify the occasion as well as the date on which you would like it published while sending the write-up.

    Though, Ermaye falls is a treat for eyes and soul, there is one caveat though. Most of local people are not aware of existence of this falls!! People who want to visit this place, please note that the nearest landmark is Kajoor dargah.

    Beautiful nature, excellent photography, attractive presentation with an eye opening lesson

    If the force of falling water can generate powerful electricity, why the millions of tons of weight (of people and goods) which we move on wheels, every day, cannot be used as a pushing force and generate energy? Why we spend excessively on fuel and face unhealthy fiscal deficit? Why we buy unhealthy air pollution and peace disturbing sound pollution, by spending billions of dollars on expensive fuel?

    Around the world everything is so well organised, touristic places are so easily accessed, facilities for food\stay\transportation\guides\medical everything is arranged in such a way, even a person like me without any difficulty can go,
    enjoy and come back.
    Where as in India there are so many beautiful places to see and enjoy but the State Governments do not bother at all to make it easier for tourists to visit such beautiful places.
    Presently because of like of Google we can locate places\routes etc easily but still not easy to access them for wont of poor transport, facilities to stay\food etc
    There is every chance one would fall ill due to dehydration\accidents but no medical facility will be available for miles around'
