Journey...

Journey

Life is a long and adventurous journey,

In which we travel by love.

We travel towards the unknown and

We never travel alone in this one way track.

Hands joined with me as I began my journey.

The various avatars of love,

Enhanced me to move peacefully.

As I continued, was left alone,

At one movement in the journey,

Where we never walk alone.

I walked alone, alone and alone.

The demon spirit of loneliness frightened me.

In pain my mind scanned the past.

Hands supported me, legs walked along with me,

When I was affluent.

I was left alone,

When I had nothing.

Laughing, roaring and guffawing faces surrounded me,

Dissolved in the air,

As storms slashed my life with thunders of sorrow.

I continued hopefully but experience was the same.

My heart and soul fired questions to my inner consciousness.

Coolly and steadily that replied and

Pierced through my heart and mind and soul with answers.

“Have you forgotten the golden rule?

‘Do unto others what you want to be done to you’

Haven’t you been enlightened by Newton’s law,

‘Every action has a reaction’”.

Yes! What a blunder I have made!

I traveled only with those who came along my way.

I extended my hands to those who came to me.

I got along with only those who understood me.

Am I selfish?

“Yes, you are” whispered my inner voice,

Exploding the walls of my selfish heart with gentle breeze.

Expecting others to share my burden,

I never gave my shoulder to anyone.

Desiring to be consoled when in despair,

I never moved to reach out to console even a desolated soul.

Demonstrating that I live for the other I lived for myself.

O! What a wonderful friendship, between the rose and the thorns.

Friendship, it is not to be understood but to understand,

It is not expecting but sacrificing,

It is not alone joining hands but easing the pain of the heart,

It is not to be at the side during joyous time but ensuring presence at ghastly situations,

It is not laying a burden but sharing the burden and relieving pain,

It is not giving a hand to climb but making him to climb,

It is not easy to find a good friend,

It is not so easy to be a good and amiable friend,

I will believe not even me but my friend.

If I am a good friend, I will have a good friend.

It is indeed a reality of life. Many people who were chasing after more material things
of life, now lost that eternal
dream of life must read this poem
a few times to realize the real
purpose of life. The vast majority of the people have a blind notion that " I must take care of myself at first and try to run over others, because nobody will take care of me", might not have
read the lessons of nature and
God " we will reap from where we sow".
