Poem: A Friend for Life...

August 19, 2011

Broken and tired, I was walking in the woods

The path was hard and the way crooked.

I knew not, where exactly  was I heading to?

May be I was walking to my destiny.

I walked and walked and walked

Until I could walk no more

I was giving up

For I knew not where my destiny was.

Was lying in a corner, having given up

When I found a gentle touch

A loving smile

That said, “I care, I understand”.

Love in his eyes

Life in his self

He said, “I will be with you till the end;

For you are my friend, my treasure.”

I was energized as never before

To walk a thousand mile to my destiny

For I knew, I am not alone

There is someone who loves and cares

Hardly a few miles away

He said I must go

Can I ever stop him?

Why should he accompany me at all?

I realized, people come, people go

Life's got to move on

You like it or not, you can’t stop the other

For it’s your journey to your destiny.

Broken and tired, I stopped a while

He came, he went

Life wasn’t the same.

The path looked straight and road smooth.

With sweet memories and with new vigour

I kept moving

Though not close, I knew

There is someone who cares

Years later, miles ahead

In the evening of my life

I could glance at my destiny

Still miles apart an unknown hand waving at me.

With weakened legs and dim eyes

Almost touching my destiny

I found a smiling face, a caring heart

And I realized, that is the heart that gave me strength to walk

“I moved ahead

To smoothen your way"

To make sure nothing ever hurts you

Nothing ever drags you down,” He said.

A good friend is a treasure

Friendship is caring for the loved one

If you found one thank God

'Coz, you have got the treasure of Life.
