The Horrors of 2020

Y2K was completely okay,
2010 passed without causing any pain;
Why, then, has this new decade,
Left us all so terrified and afraid?

A new year, a new era,
Usually comes with new hope,
Things to look forward to,
New goals to achieve,
New beginnings to commence

But, oh 2020, why do you hurt us so?
There's only suffering all around,
Paranoia sweeps the air,
As mankind struggles to cope
With the battles and challenges
That threatens us world over

No one is safe, no one is spared;
Is this the final wake up call?
"Change your ways now, humans,
Before it's way too late"?

As we struggle to find our footing
In these terrible times that plague us,
Let's hope and pray that the days ahead
Give us some reason to smile and cheer

And be this a lesson learnt,
To respect and care for Mother Nature;
Else, let's all prepare
To face the consequences.
