Sullia, Oct 21: It has been around a year since Lord Subrahmanya temple's management committee ceased to exist after completing its term. Even though the issue of the formation of a new management committee is discussed, no such process has been floated so far. 

There is talk of the government choosing to form a development committee or authority in place of the managing committee. At present, the selection process to the management committee has remained in hibernation, unlike other temples. Therefore, the claim that the government is thinking of having either a development committee or authority is gaining credence. The government is expected to come out with its final decision in the issue soon.

Development committee: Even as discussions are being held about bringing the Kukke Subrahmanya temple under the management of authority at the level of department and officials, there is also information that the government is in favour of forming development committee instead of authority for the present. Normally, the department calls for applications from the general public, verify them and appointing an eight-member managing committee through the Hindu religious endowments department. Thereafter all development activities are held as per the decisions taken by the members of this committee.

If the government to plans to appoint an authority, it will form a development committee to manage the temple till the authority comes into being. The development committee will have five members. It reportedly will be responsible for the administration and development activities of the temple till the authority takes over. A list of five members to be appointed to this committee has already been prepared and the list has been sent to the police department for the background check, it is learnt.

Muzrai minister said that there is a proposal to appoint authority to manage Kukke temple but the final decision has not been taken. He said that this proposal for managing committee, development committee, or authority, is under the consideration of the department and admission will be taken within a week.
