Udupi: Villagers display abusive banner to prevent garbage disposal on roadside

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Oct 20: Villagers of Athradi in the district are frustrated on people who throw garbage by the side of the road. Public never used to follow their appeals since five or six years not to throw the garbage on the side of the road. Now they have displayed an abusive banner which will put to shame anyone who throws garbage there.

The villagers have displayed this flex banner by the side of national highway near Hiriyadka. It is written in the flex banner that those who throw garbage in that spot are born of illicit relation. Earlier, the villagers had put up a banner saying "Please do not throw garbage here".

When public did not pay heed to their gentle request, they have found a harsher method.

Only time will tell whether the public will at least bend now and stop throwing garbage at the said place. Speaking on the subject, Divakar, a local said, "Those who commute on vehicles bring garbage and throw it on the side of the road. If they have even an ounce of shame, they should not continue their bad habit after reading this banner. The same thing is happening at various other places also. If the public does not support the schemes implemented by gram panchayat and city municipality, the aim of the scheme will not get realised."

Let police and higher authorities take major action, install grabage bins, everyone will follow the rules same as wearing helmets while riding bikes. Or else put some criminal cases people will definitely follow the rules. But authorities must be very good enough to follow the rules.

Punchayaths are just collecting Tax , Its hard for the people to burn wastages specially people are staying in a flat or small lands.

Punchayath should have Dust Bin in every nook and corner for that they can charge additionally to the user.

Local administration is responsible for collection of garbage. Most of villages don't have any plan how to dispose wastage. Our MLA should call elected members and discuss this important issue. Most of the wastage goes to the river. Our older generation is always concerned about the earth. But the new youngsters don't bother about environment.

During my last vacation, I searched for Garbage Bin, tried to apply for Garbage Collection, They said vehicle is busy and they cant reach our place, next day I tried to take garbage to the vehicle, those guys are very rude, they said throw it at your home, they are SC/ST. if not wouldve replied them in a proper way. as I don't want to end up in Jail without Bail. So brought back my garbage and throw it at a pile of garbage at roadside. Now I am trying to separate plastic and burning it at backyard. rest goes to Birds and Dogs. Being a UAE resident it feels bad to do that. but I got no other option. Shirva Panchayat Didn't gave any other option. I guess it is the same everywhere.

City administration is solely responsible for this. If the govt is not doing its duty in spite paying city taxes then God help our country. But our govt is busy with cows, cow thieves, building temples in other's land etc ec. Smart City but Foolish Govt.
