Mangaluru, Oct 18: The lifeguards of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project on Sunday October 18 saved two persons from drowning here.

A group of 10 friends had come to Panambur beach for an outing. After lunch, some of them ventured into the sea.

While they were playing in the water, two of them were drawn into the strong currents and washed away.

The two persons have been identified as Sharanappa (35), a native of Itagi, Vijaypura, and Nagaraj H S (18), a resident of Jokatte here.

Fortunately, the lifeguards who were on duty rushed to their rescue and brought them to safety.

Ever since the lifeguards of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project took charge of ensuring safetty of visitors to the beach way back in 2008, there has been a drastic decrease in the number of drowning cases.

Excellebt service to the Pubic by the team of LIFE GUARDS. As suggestions have come forward people should be discouraged and prevented from from going into the sea as IT IS NOT SAFE. However the Government have placed life guards for a purpose and these Life Guards have rendered excellent service.

The people or The Corporation should provide suitable awards to the Life Guards while rendering such good service sometimes at the risks of their own lives.
