Udupi: Modi-Trump embrace was perhaps 'COVID 19 hug' - Vinay Kumar Sorake

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Sep 24: Former MLA from Kaup constituency, Vinay Kumar Sorake, speaking satirically about the Prime Minister Narendra modi, commented that it was difficult to assess the extent of bad omen arising out of the inauspicious timing of the hug between Modi and US President Donald Trump during the 'Namaste Trump' programme. "Perhaps this was the 'COVID 19' hug. Because Trump occupies the first spot under coronavirus while Modi is placed second behind him," he commented.

Media persons wanted to know Sorake's response to the general feeling prevailing among the Congress workers here that he was not directly criticising the BJP hard and that he has been found having a soft approach towards that party, Sorake insisted that his party workers would not have said so. "I feel people who get happiness by creating trouble among others would have made that comment. We have conducted 111 booth level meetings and 23 village level meetings. I have been busy moving around and working for the party," he stated.

Sorake said that the way coronavirus infection is being handled in the country has left much to be desired. The Prime Minister is finding a solution to the problem by only advising people to clap, light the lamps, and to bang the gongs. "During the last six months, we have undergone 72 days of lockdown. During these six months, every discussion held was about coronavirus. The number of people infected from this pandemic has reached 55 lac. Corrupt practices were followed in procuring medical equipment worth Rs 2,000 crore. Sand transportation scandal and cement scandal in Hiriadka and Karkala respectively have been exposed. Wood worth Rs 70 lac was seized from the residence of a BJP activist. By using political clout, the ranger has been transferred. BJP leaders, by misusing the opportunity provided by coronavirus pandemic, are making money," he claimed.

He wanted to know whether the people, during the last six months, suffered only from coronavirus and whether everyone who died was a COVID 19 patient. "For every corona-infected patient, about Rs three lac goes to the hospitals from the government. Because of this, the people desist from undergoing COVID tests. We have been trying to instill confidence among the people not to become panicky," he stated.

On the issue of the order appointing Sorake as Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman having been withdrawn, Sorake said that he had requested the party leadership to relieve him of the post as he is busy moving around his constituency during floods.

Sorake blamed the government about the way the flood situation was handled. "The helicopter promised by MP Shobha Karandlaje, did not arrive in the district till the flood abated," he criticised. He said that locals saved the lives of many who were facing danger from floods. "Natural Disaster Response Force arrived with inordinate delay. Officials reached a few places with delay. Udupi district has faced deluge of this magnitude after a gap of 45 years. The government should compensate not only to those whose properties were lost, but also in case of loss of electronic items, cattle etc. The government should release more compensation amount for the natural disaster victims," he urged.

US - 69,43,588 - Donald Trump - Denied the seriously of Corona
India - 57,32,518 - Narendra Modi - Played with peacocks
Brazil - 45,91,364 - Jair Balsanaro - Denied the seriously of Corona

All other countries have less than 12 Lakh Cases.
If not great men what are they? Do you think anyone has the courage to deny a pandemic and face it head on?

Bhakts wake up, we’ve lost 3 Tall Leaders 1 from Congress and 2 BJP because of this disease - still you’re sleeping. God knows which Kumbakarna has blessed you. Stop making things only about defending Modi. Criticise him constructively so that he can do better. You must be have a direct contact with him afterall?

The context of Sorake sir’s statement is right! Our country spent over 100 Crores to welcome Donald Trump for a mere 48 Hours but when it comes to our citizens, especially the migrants the government has no Data! We were under the impression that Modiji is Bhagwan afterall - He knows everything - a form of Sarvagyani

Before commenting to Government first what we have contributed for controlling the disease.

If every one follow the policy strictly definitely it will control by it self.

We have in our mind that if I'm healthy why should wear Mask? why should take social distance..... every one thinks like this no body knows who has virus and how it will spread.

At least as a citizen of country we obey the Procedure governed by Govt to control the pandemic. It is not effecting either by religion or by Party.

Who is blaming the government for the disease? I am saying the government could’ve done enough than misleading people by spreading rumours during the pandemic - it’s China Virus, it’s Tablighi Virus etc etc. And also by making people literally believe that clapping hands, burning candles will kill the virus.

Moreover, the entire exercise has been thoroughly unplanned, lockdown without considering its effects on migrants and once the migrants reached their hometowns, the lockdown was opened. What was the point of them going back home? Why else do you think India’s GDP is so badly hit?

For pointing out Modi, Trump & Balsanaro I have strong reasons - because all three of these leaders denied the impact of the virus initially and did not focus on measures to safeguard our country to face it.

If a small state like Kerala could learn from earlier experience such diseases why didn’t the government bother to consult them? Being in denial about the virus especially when we had warnings about it as early at January-February. Why didn’t we focus and prepare ourselves? People will be at fault because they don’t have confidence in the government’s assurance anymore. Had Modi Administration or the Yeddyurappa Government shown results the people would’ve continued to co operate. The people have lost faith in both because of the corruption during the pandemic and complete mismanagement of the government in managing and improving people’s lives.

It’s important to defend the government when it’s right but being critical is important too. The government is relying on false propaganda heavily, therefore the people are not co operating with the government anymore. The situation is very confusing for any normal citizen. That’s the reason why the government has to be held accountable because it is its responsibility to make sure people trust and follow its regulations. Else what’s the point of electing Modi with Blind Majority?
