Bengaluru: Restrictions on movement of senior citizens, children, removed

Bengaluru, Jun 6: The state high court has decided a petition that had questioned the central government's move to restrict movement of people aged above 65 and children below ten. This measure was undertaken towards restricting proliferation of coronavirus infection.

A public interest litigation questioning the above restrictions was filed by a citizen, B N Jayadeva. It was put up before the division bench of the high court comprising Chief Justice A S Oka and Justice S Vishwajith Shetty on Friday June 5.

On that occasion, the bench was told that the previous order restraining people aged above 65 and below ten years and advising them to remain at home has been withdrawn. At the same time, it was clarified that restrictions placed on the above categories of people and also pregnant women and ill persons from moving around is in the form of advice and not compulsion.
